Sejova Safaris

Health and Safety in Tanzania

Malaria, vaccines, sun, water, road travel and park conduct for Tanzania safari guests travelling with Sejova Safaris.

This page is general information from Sejova Safaris in Arusha. It is not medical, legal or insurance advice. Confirm visas, vaccinations, weather and evacuation cover with official sources, your doctor and your insurer before you travel.

Tanzania is a straightforward safari country when you travel with a licensed operator, keep valuables simple, and sort malaria and vaccines before you fly. Most Arem itineraries use private 4×4 vehicles, booked lodges or camps, and known airstrips — not informal street taxis between parks.

Before you leave home

See a travel clinic several weeks before departure. Typical discussions include hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus, and yellow fever if you are arriving from a country where it is required. Malaria prophylaxis is commonly advised for the northern parks, the coast and Zanzibar even if you will also climb Kilimanjaro, where mosquitoes are not the main issue. We do not prescribe drugs from the office in Arusha.

Towns and transfers

Use the driver we send for Kilimanjaro Airport, Arusha and Zanzibar hotel runs. Keep phones and cameras out of sight in busy streets. Leave spare bank cards in the hotel safe when you do not need them. If anything feels wrong, stay with the vehicle and call the Arem office.

Insurance

Buy cover that includes safari, any planned trek, and medical evacuation — see flying doctors services. For the mountain, read health and safety on Kilimanjaro. Visa and fever-certificate rules sit on Tanzania visa.
