Elevation: 1811m/5942ft to 3021m/9911ft Altitude gained: 1210m Leaving from Arusha, about an hour ride transports you to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, passing through Machame Village
. While we wait for our permits, observe the bustling activity as various crews gear up for their adventure ahead. Take in the lush rainforest views and winding paths as your guide educates you on the native plants, animals, and wildlife. Be prepared for muddy and slippery conditions at these lower altitudes; we strongly advise wearing gaiters and using trekking poles for added stability.
Elevation: 3021m/9911ft to 3839m/12,595ft Altitude gained: 818m Following a restful night's sleep and a satisfying breakfast, we depart from the rainforest and proceed along an upward trail, traversing the valley via a steep rocky ridge
. Our journey then veers westward, leading us through a river gorge until we reach the Shira campsite. As we advance, temperatures gradually decline.
Elevation: 3839m/12,595ft to 3986m/13,077ft Altitude gained: 147m While you may finish the day at a similar altitude to where you started, it holds significant value for acclimatization

Moving from the Shira Plateau, we proceed eastward along a ridge, passing the intersection toward Kibo peak before veering southeast toward the Lava Tower, nicknamed the “Shark’s Tooth” (elevation 4650m/15,250ft). Following the tower, we encounter another junction leading to the Arrow Glacier, after which we descend to spend the night at Barranco Camp.
Elevation: 3986m/13,077ft to 4034m/13,235ft Altitude gained: 48m Following breakfast, we ascend a steep ridge towards the exhilarating Barranco Wall, then proceed to the Karanga Valley and the junction linking to the Mweka Trail

After celebrating and capturing the moment, our descent begins towards Mweka Camp. Lunch at Barafu offers a brief reprieve before navigating steep terrain. Trekking poles and gaiters are essential for the journey down. As night falls, we rest at Mweka Camp, reflecting on our extraordinary achievement.
Elevation: 3106m/10,190ft to 1633m/5358ft Altitude lost: 1473m Following breakfast and a sincere ceremony expressing gratitude and strengthening the bond with your crew, it's time to bid farewell
. We begin the descent towards the Mweka Park Gate to collect your summit certificates. With considerably warmer weather, the terrain becomes damp, muddy, and steep, making gaiters and trekking poles essential. Upon reaching the gate, a vehicle will await you in Mweka village to transport you back to your hotel in Arusha. Indulge in a well-deserved hot shower, followed by dinner and celebrations to commemorate your achievement!
